Beautiful MacKenzie

MacKenzie is a high school senior in Orange County who is pursuing a dance career.  Her sweet Mom booked a session for head shots in the studio, and she decide to add a little glitz and glam and go with a full Model Makeover session.  I had pulled some soft makeup looks for her that I passed off to Brittany from @brittanynortonartisty and Deseree went through her clothes to create a look that would work perfectly for head shots, but that would also show off MacKenzie’s beauty.  MacKenzie was a natural in front of the camera, and worked the soft smoldering look…. with lots of cracking up between shots.

Erik Juliusson: Laguna Beach High School Senior

What can I say about Erik…. our third child, quirky sense of humor, always has a smile on his face, best friend to Cameron and maybe even to Kasey.  We are definitely going to miss him next year when he is off to Purdue to represent their swim team.

This is the second time Erik has been willing to get in front of my camera.  The first time it was for an art project and I made him wear leather pants, combat boots, rub dirt all over himself and wrap himself in chains.  This session to celebrate his senior year was definitely tamer!  Thank you Erik for always being willing to give the Karkoska kids a last minute ride to practice, for pushing them in workouts and for joining us for granola and yogurt before an early morning training in the garage.  Enjoy!

Carlee Di Nicola High School Senior

Let me start off by saying two things… first the “Model for A Day” sessions have been so amazing and second they are even better when I get to photograph someone who I have been working with since she was just a little girl.  Well Carlee has grown up into an amazing young woman and I know her family is so very proud of all of her accomplishments.  She is graduating this year from Santa Margarita High School and she is still making up her mind about which amazing university she will attend next year.  Carlee seems quiet and a little shy and so sweet on the outside.  But, watch out, because she was also named Best Delegate in Model United Nations.  Watch out world, whatever Carlee chooses to do in life, she is going to be a smashing success… and with her amazing fashion sense, she will definitely look the part!  Enjoy!

Kayte Mayfield: San Juan Capistrano High School Senior Portraits

In our initial conversations, Kayte’s mom told me, “she isn’t really into makeup and getting dressed up”, but I want to give her this experience for high school graduation. We talked about clothes and all of the options for locations…. and we came up with an open field, lots of flowers, train tracks and some urban textures. She said her daughter loves The Daisy Shoppe, and I totally got her style.

Fast forward to our session date, Kayte and Debbi showed up and Debbi asked, “if it is okay, can I get into just one picture”. “Of course”, was my reply, it was my honor to photograph this beautiful mother and daughter pair. Debbi let me know right after the session, how much fun Kayte had and how she talked non stop about what an amazing experience it was to be all dressed up, have her hair and makeup done, work with Deseree as the stylist and collaborate with me on her photographs.  She is a stunning girl, both inside and out.  I feel so fortunate to get to know this beautiful family!  Make sure to check out the slideshow at the end of the images.  Enjoy!

Beautiful Madison’s High School Senior Portrait Session

I have been fortunate over many years to have some amazing young photography assistants work for me.  In Madison’s case, I have known her for years!  In the Blue Sky’s Salon and Studio days, her portrait in one of our beautiful vintage dresses, hung on the wall.  She grew up to be every bit as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.  I love that she runs on the same clock that I do… be early whenever possible…, that she has a great sense of style and always helps with wardrobe for our clients.. also, that she gives me great insight into the High School experience and what I should look out for when it comes to my daughter.  We have had some great laughs together, and more than one boy we have photographed seems to have fallen for her.  I was truly honored to shoot her high school senior portraits.  Thank you Madison and thanks to your family for raising such an amazing young woman!
