I spend a LOT of time at the pool. I mean, a crazy amount of time… poolside at Soka University in Aliso Viejo. And it isn’t because I am working on my tan or relaxing, it is simply because I am raising two kids that are unbelievably good swimmers. Dreams of going to the Olympics type swimmers. Now I know that there is only 2 best swimmers in each event in the US that get to go to the Olympics, but kid can dream right! :) For the past two years, I do my best to catch up on Blue Sky’s Studio work while they are swimming. Still, there has been time to meet some amazing families that I feel fortunate to call friends.
So, where am I going with all this talk of swimming??? To the amazing Calaiacovo family. They too have some extremely talented, dedicated swimmers. Not to mention that all three of their kids are knock out beautiful. It is no surprise when you see their gorgeous Mama! Dad, you aren’t bad either. Though we battled a crazy crowd on the beach, we still managed to get some amazing portraits of their family. Thanks so much to the Calaiacovo family for trusting me to capture their memories! See ya poolside!
The thing about doing most of my sessions on location is…. you never know what will happen. Wind, rain, HEAT all can throw a wrench in an otherwise easy session. That is why I carry lots of tools to deal with the elements! Off camera lights to combate too bright sunlight, scrims to create artifical shade and reflectors to really make eyes pop are just some of the tool I use to ensure you get the best images under any circumstances. Lucky for me, San Juan Capistrano has lots of big trees and funky structures, the only way to block wind. Despite the elements, we still managed to capture some beautfiul family images of the Degarmo family a few weeks back. Alex, their daughter, was one of the first gals to have a birthday party at Blue Sky’s Studio and look at her now…beautiful and all grown up in college. Enjoy~
Everyday I have this little conversation with myself, “Self, today you must blog”…. and then the phone rings, or someone needs a ride, or I book a last minute session and the day is completely gone. Do you ever feel like the “todo” list never ends? Well, I can’t promise a daily blog post with summer in full swing and the weather being perfectly gorgeous for family sessions, but I can promise to keep in touch with my Blue Sky’s family on a more regular basis. Having said all that, many of you may know that we just launched our new wedding blog, www.blissbyblueskys.com/blog. I would really, truely love and appreciate it if you would all go make a little visit and just say hello, or better yet give us some feedback on our engagement and wedding photography.
Now, finally, the Wood Family! Wow, I think I am in love! Seriously, they are not only beautiful on the outside, but that have this amazing chemistry and love that just makes you want to become an honorary member of the Wood Team! Little did I know when they contacted me to book a session, that Sara is also an accomplished children’s photographer in the Bay Area. She has definitely trained her kids well in front of the camera as they are naturals. I did not want the session to end. To Sara, thank you for trusting me with your fabulous family! Enjoy!
Kristin had so much fun shooting my friend Brandi and her adorable family in their retro-vintage inspired styled session. Here are some of my favorite shots from the shoot. Beautiful family and beautiful pictures! Thank you to Rashae Taylor from Fansea Finds for styling the shoot and making the backdrop so beautiful (as always)! Enjoy!
